Police Blotter: Burglaries to Vehicles

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

DUI

Rafal W. Chudoba, 19, 9226 Marie Lane Schiller Park, was arrested for DUI on Route 12 at June Terrace, 3:23 a.m., June 16.  Chudoba failed all field sobriety tests.  Chudoba was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, speeding, disobeying a traffic control device and possession of alcohol by a minor.  Chudoba was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of July 16.

Criminal Damage to Property

Scott C. Lewis, 27, 21113 West Shirley Road Palatine, was arrested for criminal damage to property at 200 Mohawk Trail, 8:37 a.m., June 16.  A citizen reported damage to a vehicle which was parked in the 500 block of Trailside Drive.  Officers arrived and observed dents on the back of the vehicle and the rear window shattered.  Officers located a golf club in the roadway.  Officers notified the vehicle owner who identified a suspect.  Lewis was arrested at the Lake Zurich police station, 200 Mohawk Trail, and charged with criminal damage to property.  Lewis was released with a Waukegan court date of July 19 after posting $150.

Retail Theft 

Sue A. Saam, 58, 60 Meadowbrook Lane, Lake Zurich, was arrested for retail theft at 820 S. Rand Road, WalMart.  Walmart loss prevention reported that Saam stole merchandise from Walmart.  Saam was charged with retail theft.  Saam was released after posting $150 with a Waukegan court date of July 13. 

 

Burglary to Vehicles

A person reported on June 11 that someone removed a GPS unit and tools from his unlocked vehicle over the weekend while the vehicle was parked in the 1100 block of Rose Road.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information. 

 

On June 12, police received a report that someone removed a man’s golf clubs, bag and shoes from his unlocked vehicle during the weekend while the vehicle was parked on the driveway in the 100 block of North Lane.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information.

 

On June 14, a person reported that someone removed her cellular telephone from her unlocked vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the 700 block of South Rand Road.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information.

 

Traffic Arrest

Mateo Hernandez, 42, 37 Miller Rd., Lake Zurich,  was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Miller Road at Route 12.  Hernandez was charged with improper lane usage, failing to signal when required and driving with a suspended driver’s license.  Hernandez was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of July 6.
