Mark, For someone who lives over 1,000 miles away, is it a strange coincidence you are still following LZ and commenting on an article hours after it is posted? You have shown yourself to be the ultimate flip-flopper going from anti-Bob to savior-Bob during all of your public comments throughout the years. My guess it has to do with your tight bond with Mayor Branding, and the attempt to infuse a positive image for her, given the tight relationship the 3 of you had. I wish Mr. Vitas the best of luck too but he didn’t do anything positive for the village and actually put it in a worse position. Our downtown is still not built, or even a developer under contract even when he mentioned he had a plan B after the ESG contract expired. He tried selling part of Paulus Park, which the Mayor supported and the majority of the Board did not, and gave his buddies in village hall hefty raises while the village was making service cuts. The village is in a worse financial position during his tenure and the new Village Administrator and Finance Director are left with cleaning up his mess. These are all public documents on the village’s website for anyone to see. There is a reason Mr. Vitas is no longer with the village and he received a severance package but no thanks to you or Branding who worshiped the empty buildings and broken streets he brought us.

As the song goes, "thank God and grayhound she's gone". I doubt this town has ever known a bigger piece of trash and now he is Key West problem. Which goes to tell you that this village isnt the only one that doesn check into ones past job performace

And apparently Mark is sucking up for a job with his boy Bob,and exaclty what legacy are you talking about Mark. This idiot did nothing for this town but rob us blind. If he were truly this great guy that you think him to be, then maybe he should give back the last 3 yrs of his salary, cause he sure as hell didnt earn it.

Frank, there is a saying I've read, "everyone can have an opinon, but not everone can pick their own facts." I have had a positive relationship with Bob during my years living in Lake Zurich, whether that was as a chamber member, LPOA member, & when I was involved with the Village. That is because he was always a man of integrity who did what he said he would do. He was reasonable to work with, and always represented the Village in a professional way. As for downtown, that was a half-baked plan launched under the Tolomei administration and killed by a majority of the current board because Smith couldn't keep his commitments. Blaming Bob is false and ignores documented facts. Only the Board can approve or kill those agreements. The lack of a plan had more to do with an economy and housing market that died during the recession and developers who saw no way to recoup any investment in housing. The "buy high - sell low" strategy did not appeal to them. Blaming Bob Vitas, Mayor Branding or now me shows your obvious bias and lack of credibility. As to the mayor, she has more integrity earned over a lifetime of living in the village and showing her character over many years than you can know. Frankly (no pun intended) you should focus on Bob or me. Mayor Branding is way out of your league. Ernie, as for "robbing the town blind" that sounds dangerously close to defamation. There are no facts to show criminal wrongdoing and you know it or charges would have been brought.

Mark - maybe you need to check your facts on Mayor Branding. She has not lived in the Village over a lifetime. She moved away and raised her family in another suburb. She's a returning villager who hasn't really been back that long. As far as her integrity I can attest to the fact that she has very little. I experienced it first hand so this isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Mayor Branding is doing everything she can to keep the downtown as underdeveloped as possible. I think your bias is showing.
