Lake Zurich Musicals, Earth Day Celebration and More

Here is this week's list of suggestions for some fun things to do with your kids.

Where / When: ; 4 - 6 p.m. on Friday, April 29.

Why Go?: Did you or your kids read the book Flipped? Come see the movie together at the library. Free snacks. A copy of the movie and the book will be raffled off after the movie. The movie Flipped is rated PG and is appropriate for kids in grades 6 - 12.

Where / When: ; 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 1.

Why Go?: Bring the whole family to the Y. Open gym is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and open swim is from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Where / When: , J Theatre, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 22 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go?: ArtReach Educational Theatre presents this musical performed by professional actors and children from the Palatine community. Great family entertainment.

Where / When: , 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go?: About 700 athletes, volunteers and coaches will participate in a full day of competition at the first Area 13 Spring Games at LZHS. The Opening Ceremony begins at 9 a.m. with a torch run and lighting of the Olympic Flame by local police departments. Bring the whole family and cheer on the athletes.

Why Go?: Bring the whole family out to help clean up any of the 32 Lake Zurich parks and then meet at Paulus Park for a tree planting and a tree pruning demonstration. See the rain garden and learn how to make your own. Scavenger hunt for the kids and tree identification contest. Free barbeque at noon for all clean-up participants.

 Where / When: Brand Name Consignments, 1150 W. Maple Ave., Mundelein; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1.

Why Go?: Thousands of baby and children's clothing, shoes, coats, toys, equipment, furniture, books, games, movies, maternity items and more. 50% off everything on Sunday.

Pricing: $2 admission for adults on April 30; $1 for adults on May 1; kids always free

 

Where / When:, Performing Arts Center; 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.

Why Go?: High-energy, family-friendly, Tony Award-winning musical comedy presented by the LZHS drama students. The whole family will enjoy this wacky version of the "Princess and the Pea."

Pricing: $10 for adults; $8 for students and seniors in advance; $2 surcharge added when purchased at the door

 

Where / When:, 95 Hubbard Ln., Hawthorn Woods; 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.

Why Go?: Experience the musical talents of the middle school students.
