Northern Illinois, including Lake County, is under a winter storm watch.
The watch, issued by the National Weather Service, will officially be in effect from this evening until Friday morning.
The storm is forecast to start as rain before changing over to potentially heavy, wet snow with snowfall rates of an inch or more per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
