Kia, Compact and Quiet, Wants to Be Your Co-Pilot
Sweet 10-year old beagle mix is ready to ride.
Hello, I am Kia! If you’re looking for a pretty dog, take a look at me. I'm about 10 years old, a beagle/Brittany spaniel mix. I am small and slender, less than 30 pounds. I'm so sweet and friendly!
I was found as a stray in southern Illinois, but it is obvious that I was someone’s cherished pet. But no tags, no chip and no one came to claim me at the pound. Luckily, I was rescued because, at my age, time would have run out quickly. At the shelter, I tried to convince the volunteers to let me get into any car that pulled up. Since I like cars so much, that’s how I got my new name, Kia!
I am VERY mellow and so far have not made even a peep of noise. It’s possible that I don't hear well, but I function just fine. I had a dental cleaning and some harmless fatty masses removed, I am spayed and microchipped and healthy! All I lack is a new forever home.
Like my namesake, I come with some standard features, though mine are far more endearing than any car’s!

- was taught that my place is on the floor, not the furniture, so I will seek out the softest mat or pillow you have and curl up in that cute dog ball and just “be.”
- will greet you with a calm but happy welcome when you come home.
- don’t seem to notice or care either way about cats or squirrels.
- get along fine with other dogs.
- am gentle enough for small children.
- walk easily on a leash — no pulling at all and I LOVE a walk!
- ride happily and calmly in the car.

I’m healthy and spayed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and microchipped. My adoption fee of $165 allows Young at Heart Pet Rescue to help other older dogs and cats like me get a second chance at a happily ever after.
