Citizens Utility Board representatives will be at the Ela Library Aug. 29.

Is your phone bill too high? The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) wants to help.

CUB representatives will be at the at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 with the goal of helping residents cut their calling costs.

“Most people are paying too much for phone service, but CUB can help you deflate your bloated bill,” said CUB Executive Director David Kolata. “We’ve been showing consumers how to save hundreds of dollars a year, and that’s good news in tough economic times.”

According to CUB, people who stop by the Ela Library will learn about:

  • The CUB Cellphone Saver, an online tool that analyzes wireless bills.
  • Low-cost Consumer's Choice local-calling plans.
  • The best long-distance plans — and how to receive a CUB-negotiated $10 credit.
