Get Out: Farm Heritage Festival; Sing! Competition

Where/When: ; 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23.

Why Go?: . The market will be held rain or shine.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where/When: Deer Park Town Center, 20530 N. Rand Road, Deer Park; noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24.

Why Go?: . Vocal groups and soloists will perform on the stage as they seek to move on to the next round of the competition for the superstar prize package.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where/When: Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25.

Why Go?: Celebrate farm life with the Lake County Discovery Museum and the Lake County Farm Heritage Association from the turn of the century to the present. Tractor parade at 1:30 p.m. on both days and more than 200 tractors, steam engines and antique cars will be on display. Petting zoo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. See a sheep-herding demonstration, hear live music, watch scarecrow making, take a ride on a wagon and a barrel train. All ages are welcome. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Pricing: $8 for adults; $4 for seniors 55 and older, and youth ages 4 to 17; free admission for children 3 and younger; $12 for two-day adult pass; $6 for two-day pass for seniors and youth.

Where/When: ; 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25.

Why Go?: Talented faculty members of the Knight Music Academy will perform a variety of solo and ensemble selections featuring the flute, guitar, cello, violin, piano and voice in the first of what is intended to become an annual event. A light reception with cake and punch will follow the recital.
