Why Go?: Walk 5 miles, bike 15 miles or skate 10 miles to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Opening ceremony at 9 a.m., closing ceremony at noon followed by a cook-out and live entertainment for all participants.

Pricing: $15 registration fee for all participants ages 18 or older; $100 minimum recommended funds raised

Why Go?: Be entertained by the talented students of Isaac Fox Elementary School.

Where/When: Ryerson Woods Conservation Area, 21950 N. Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods; 5:30 to 10 p.m. May 14.

Why Go?: The keynote speaker is Bill Browning, one of the foremost thinkers for sustainable designs in the green building and real estate industry. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Ryerson Woods and their education and preservation efforts.

Pricing: $125 per adult for entire event; $25 per person for dessert and keynote address only.

Where/When: , 1475 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake; 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15.

Why Go: Spend the day outdoors at Lake County's favorite bike event. Pedal along any of the 4-, 9-, 12- and 27-mile routes through breathtaking open spaces. Raffles, music, massages, educational activities, lunch and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Pricing: $25 for adults; $15 for kids ages 6 - 17; free for children under 6.

Why Go?: Get a collection value from certified appraiser Penny Welch on your antiques. Connect with the past and enjoy some refreshments.
