Ela Historical Society To Hold Historical Tour

The tour will feature historic buildings and homes.

The Ela Historical Society is preparing to hold its first “From Then Till Now” historical tour of local buildings and homes.

“Ever wonder what old-time stories came from that old building in town? Or when it was first built and what it looked like? Or maybe you just want to know why it is still around years after the first owners built that location,” Coral Lee Scranton, Ela Historical Society director, wrote about the tour. “But I bet you didn’t know where a distillery was hiding, or where two mayors lived who helped form our town.”

Those are just a few of the things guests can learn on the tours slated for Aug. 20. One of the buildings that will be visited is the Robertson House. The bus/walking tours will be held at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. and at 1 and 2 p.m. Each tour will last about two hours, said Scranton.

Tickets cost $12 in advance or $15 the day of the tours. The tours will depart from the Ela Historical Society, 95 E. Main St. Refreshments and free drawings will be offered after the tours.
