Duke Wants Nothing More Than a Little Love

Quiet and gentle senior Lab mix seeks quiet companionship.

Hi there! I’m Duke, and I’m one handsome guy! I’m a 10- to 12-year-old lab mix with a very sweet disposition and gentle demeanor.

My owner passed away and like many of my senior friends in the same situation, I ended up at a noisy rural pound. Young at Heart Pet Rescue saved me from being euthanized, and I’m ready to begin the next part of my life!

Now some people don’t know that adopting a senior pet is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. And I am just the guy to prove that to you! I’m a quiet boy, and I ride very nicely in the car. I take treats very gently, am good on a leash and love to go for walks! I am completely housebroken and trustworthy in the house. I get along well with other big dogs like me, though I need to be fed separately since I’m protective of my food bowl around other dogs. I am not a fan of small dogs, but I do just fine with my feline friends.

My favorite thing in the world, though, is people. I LOVE my people. I love attention and will put my paw gently on you to ask for more. My ideal home is one where someone is home a lot, since that is what I had in my previous life. But honestly, I’ll be happy just to have a warm bed and a loving family again!

What can I say? I’m a happy guy. I’ve had very intensive dental work done, and am healthy and ready to meet my forever family. Are you ready to meet me?

I’m neutered, up to date on my vaccinations, and microchipped, and my blood test results say I’m doing just fine. I’ve also had very intensive dental work done, so my chompers are as good as they’ll ever be! My adoption fee of $165 helps Young at Heart rescue other older pets like me! I’m so ready for a new loving home – a quiet one where I can be someone’s favorite companion. Fill out an adoption application today!
