Changes Coming to Catholic Mass

A number of revisions will be adopted by Roman Catholic churches beginning Nov. 27.

Catholic church-goers will soon experience a number of changes in Mass upon the adoption of a re-translated Roman Missal.

The news has elicited a range of emotions from church leaders and parishioners, as noted in an article on The Huffington Post.

The changes, which will go into effect Nov. 27, include revisions to the Nicene Creed, where the words “one in being with the Father” will become "consubstantial with the Father." Other notable changes impact the Penitential Act, greeting and the song “Gloria.”

has outlined many of the pending changes in its bulletin, which is distributed to parishioners and posted on its website.

The changes, which come as a directive from the Vatican, will result in the English words more closely reflecting the Latin text.
