Banana Derby, Motocross Races On Tap For Today's Fair

Livestock demonstrations, a visit from the Lake County Fielders and Pro Motocross Races are all part of today’s Lake County Fair schedule.

The 83rd annual Lake County Fair started yesterday and runs through July 31.

Here’s what’s on tap today:

8 a.m.  4-H Pony and English Horse Show (horse arena)

9 a.m.  Junior and 4-H Beef Show (livestock barns)

10 a.m.  Poultry demonstration (livestock barns)

11 a.m.  4-H Sheep Show (livestock barns)

11 a.m.  Junior and 4-H Swine Show (livestock barns)

Noon  Chicago Sky Basketball (Funpalooza stage)

Noon, 2 and 4 p.m.  Game Show Gurus

1 p.m.  Rabbit demonstration (livestock barns)

1, 3 and 7 p.m.  Banana Derby Racing 

2 p.m.  Small pet demonstration (livestock barns)

3 p.m.  Junior Dairy Goats Show (livestock barns)

3 p.m.  Lake County Fielders (Funpalooza stage)

5 p.m.  Pro Motocross practice (Grandstand)

5 p.m.  Free Food – ska/reggae (North Beer Garden)

6 p.m.  Junior and Little Miss Lake County Fair Queen Pageant (Main Stage)

6:30 p.m.  Slam Funk – Motown/oldies (North Beer Garden)

7 p.m.  Pro Motocross Races (Grandstand)

7 p.m.  Crystal Cook – acoustic (Funpalooza Stage)

8 p.m.  Erica Iozzo – blues/rock (North Beer Garden)

8:30 p.m.  Joshua Patterson – acoustic (Funpalooza Stage)

The fairgrounds are located at 1060 E. Peterson Road, at the intersection of Peterson and Midlothian Roads in Grayslake. Parking is free, with preferred parking available for $5.

Prices are as follows: General admission – $10; seniors (65+) – $5; children younger than 12 – $5; children 5 and younger – free; those in full military uniform – free; those with an active military ID – $5.

Gates open at 8 a.m. daily. The Expo Building is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
