The Village of Hawthorn Woods Commits to Earth Hour and Encourages Residents to Join the Movement

HAWTHORN WOODS – The Village of Hawthorn Woods has registered its commitment to being an advocate for actions benefiting the planet by joining Earth Hour. On Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 8:30pm, the Village of Hawthorn Woods will join people, businesses and organizations across the globe and switch off all non-essential lights of our premises for Earth Hour. Many Village Board Members, Committee Members and Staff have made a personal commitment to this extraordinary movement as well and will turn off all lights and electronics in their homes.

Earth Hour reminds each of us of the important role we take in effecting the environment in our daily lives. The Village believes that small actions can add up to big results. Participating in Earth Hour demonstrates the Village’s commitment to sustaining a healthy environment for our community. “The Village of Hawthorn Woods is proud to lead the movement toward energy conservation awareness, while reducing our impact on natural resources. We encourage others to participate in this annual green initiative”, declared Mayor Joseph Mancino. Mayor Mancino will be participating in Earth Hour activities at his business and residence in observance of the “turn out the lights” movement.

The Village of Hawthorn Woods invites the community to join together to power up and switch off. Participating in Earth Hour is easy, fun and absolutely free. You can register your commitment at www.earthhour.org by entering your name to join the community. Be a superhero of the planet and turn your switches to off on Saturday, March 29 at 8:30pm.
