Hawthorn Woods Police Chief Paulus Recognized as a Leading Woman of Law Enforcement

On March 24, 2014, Hawthorn Woods Police Department Chief of Police, Jennifer Paulus, was recognized by State of Illinois Comptroller, Judy Baar Topinka, as a leading woman of law enforcement. Chief Paulus attended a reception held by Comptroller Topinka celebrating Illinois’s top law enforcement administrators for Women’s History Month. At the Chicago reception, Chief Paulus was joined by Village Mayor Joseph Mancino, Chief Operating Officer Pamela O. Newton and Chief Administrative Officer Donna Lobaito. Chief Paulus, along with 11 other Chiefs and Commanders, were formally recognized for their leadership, dedication, and service.

Chief Paulus has served the Village of Hawthorn Woods for over 15 years, 9 of those years as Chief of Police. She is currently the only female police chief in Lake County. She oversees 9 full-time officers and is the driving force in maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. Chief Paulus is an asset to the community of Hawthorn Woods and deserving of this honorable recognition. “Hawthorn Woods is proud that Chief Paulus was recognized for her dedication to municipal law enforcement and public safety,” said Mayor Joseph Mancino. “Her leadership and commitment to excellence serves as an outstanding example to all public service personnel in Illinois.”
