Try 'The Fitting Room' in Grayslake on for Size

A month after its grand opening, The Fitting Room in downtown Grayslake is doing a brisk holiday business, catering to women who want personalized attention in selecting lingerie and men who are looking for the perfect intimate gift — and it's not a terry cloth robe!

Owner and lingerie stylist Bex Anderson, of Grayslake, said it was her dream to open her own store after working for a prominent Libertyville boutique that closed last year.

She found the perfect spot on downtown Lake Street to open The Fitting Room.

"It really is the perfect place. It doesn't feel like a store," said Anderson.

One of the biggest draws for The Fitting Room is Anderson's expertise in bra fittings. She's so good at it that she can eyeball a customer and know what size they are, she said.

"I've been doing it for so long. I just know what it looks like on the body."

The Fitting Room carries hard-to-find sizes and specialty bras, which is important because many women admit they don't feel comfortable in their bra, said Anderson.

The reason being, "Most women are not wearing the right bra size."

Something else that sets her boutique apart from other lingerie stores, said Anderson, is her pricing.

"It's not all high end. We have moderate prices."

Anderson said she never wants a woman to come in for a fitting only to discover it's too costly to purchase a bra from her store.

"I don't want people to feel like they can't afford it."

Services

In addition to being an expert bra fitter, Anderson is a lingerie stylist with years of experience helping customers make the best purchase, be it a woman shopping for herself or the man in her life who wants to buy her something special.

"We have all their sizes and know what they like," said Anderson of her female customers whose male counterparts are looking for a holiday gift.

The Fitting Room also offers bridal services, private events and boudoir photography with Lake Zurich photographer Stacy Golden of Golden Photography. Anderson said her store will soon offer photography nights for small groups of women, which she expects to be a popular service prior to Valentine's Day.

Anderson plans to become certified in mastectomy bra fitting and hopes to begin selling mastectomy bras in the spring along with nursing bras, and sports bras and swimwear.

Women are also encouraged to donate new or gently used bras to The Fitting Room for women in need throughout the world. Women who come in for a free fitting get 10 percent off the purchase of a new bra with the donation of their old bra.

Holiday

For the holidays, customers will receive a gift with purchase. The store also has gift certificates, stocking stuffers under $20 and free gift wrapping.

Holiday specials Dec. 15-Dec. 24 include:

• Buy two Cosabella thongs, get 1 free, a $60 value for $40.
• Spend $150, get a $20 gift gertificate that is good to use through Valentines Day 2013.
• Get 15 percent off all in-stock chemises and babydolls.

Current store hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday; 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

Seasonal hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 22; noon-8 p.m. Dec. 23; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve); and noon-6 p.m. Dec. 26, with regular hours resuming Dec. 27. The store is closed Christmas and New Year's Day.
