Peapod Trucks Go Green in Lake Zurich

Grocery delivery trucks run on clean fuel sources.

 

the nation’s leading Internet grocer, is expanding its market presence and service offerings but is also intently focused on shrinking its carbon footprint in 2013.  In Chicagoland, Peapod is piloting a fleet of green delivery vehicles that run on clean fuel sources, including compressed natural gas and liquid propane.  Specifically in the Northwest suburbs – including Lake Zurich – select Peapod trucks are fueling up on propane autogas, which is proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent and can reduce overall toxin emissions by as much as to 90 percent. 

“With more than 23 million grocery orders delivered across 24 U.S. markets, we are committed to making our fleet as eco-friendly as possible.  This pilot is the first step in a process to find the most environmentally impactful solution,” said Andrew Parkinson, Peapod president and general manager.
