EXPO to Showcase Local Businesses, Organizations

The EXPO will be held tomorrow at Lake Zurich High School.

In Dale Perrin's opinion, the annual EXPO is a great way to support local businesses.

"By supporting local businesses, you help support the tax base in our community and you keep people employed," said Perrin, executive director of the chamber. "Both of these are of great benefit to the community. A strong tax base helps to keep the roads safe and in good condition. Employed residents are able to pay their utility bills, property taxes, and purchase merchandise and services from other local businesses, helping to continue the cycle."

Residents will be able to learn about at this year's EXPO, slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17. The event is free and will be held at . The chamber will give away an iPad to one individual who completes the EXPO bingo game.

"The chamber's annual Community Business EXPO is really a win-win situation for everyone," said Perrin. "The EXPO was originally created to provide a venue for many local businesses and organizations to reach out to the community and show what they have to offer. This continues to be the primary reason we host or conduct the EXPO."

Perrin added that the EXPO is "a one-stop shop for residents," where they can learn about the options to redo the floors in their homes or businesses, or even learn about summer camps and other activities for children.

There is also plenty of entertainment, Perrin said, including exotic reptiles, dance performances and the chance to play a game of chess with chess Grandmaster Yuri Shulman.

"And if someone needed another solid reason to attend, perhaps saving up to three lives would be of interest to them," said Perrin. "LifeSource will have their Blood Mobile on site for the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Community Blood Drive. Not only does a pint of blood help to save lives, it also helps the Fire Rescue Department earn scholarship dollars that our firefighters can use for additional training in the fire service."

Perrin noted that a shuttle van will drive through the high school parking lots to drive people to the main door of the field house, where the EXPO will be held.
