3 Things you can do before years end to improve your health

The year is coming to an end sooner then you realize. As of today we have 68 days left. So in the last 68 what can you do to better yourself to finish strong and smart?

The year is coming to an end sooner then you realize. As of today we have 68 days left. So in the last 68 what can you do to better yourself to finish strong and smart?


1. Make any doctor appointments you have been putting off. Schedule them this week so they are in before the end of the year. Not only is it good to have the routine maintenance but get it done while deductibles are met. If your single then deductibles may be tougher to meet unless you are a klutz and then you would have made those numbers in the first quarter. I have a wife and 2 kids that should live in a bubble certain days so ours is there. Have the doctors run a blood panel and check your numbers. Depending on your age will depend on what tests. The bottom line is to know where you stand.

2. Do something new and/or different. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. If you want to look better, feel better or move better and you have been doing the same thing, STOP. It ain’t working! Do something different. Something that would be out of your comfort zone. If all you do is cardio, pick up a weight, they won’t hurt you. If you just like weight training, jump on a bike and ride. Add some flavor to your training. If your not doing anything, start. Gardening and vacuuming is not exercise, I don’t care who I offend. Take a walk, ride a bike, attend a class.

3. What out for the holidays! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are all in a matter of 68 days. That is a lot of partying in a short amount of time. I am not even talking about any work functions that may come from those holidays in addition to what you will already be doing with family. My biggest fear is always at Christmas with my mother-in-law’s chocolate chip cookies. They must have crack in them because I can sit down and eat them until I am sick and then I just have to have one more. Pick your battles and make sure you get some good movement during those stretch of days.
