Modern Jazz Guitarist Performing at Lakeside

Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake hosts Bill Denk and the Glazz Ensemble.

Bill Denk and the Glazz Ensemble will perform in ‘the Listening Room’ at the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake.

Roger Reupert, house manager of 'the Listening Room', describes Denk as "an expressive modern jazz guitarist, with pastoral folk, funk grooves, and rock energy."

Denk will perform with the Glazz Ensemble in 'the Listening Room' with ensemble members include Fred Faller, Phil Ciancio, Bryan Kyrouac, and Jim Seidel.

The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 19 at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, 401 Country Club Road, Crystal Lake. Tickets are $15.00 and are on sale now. “Prairie Fire”, his newly released CD, is a metaphor for renewal and growth in the face that all is lost. Denk also hosts a weekly radio show on Harvard Community Radio on AM1610. His radio show is titled The Northern Sky Jazz Show and airs on Wednesday's from 7 to 9 p.m. The radio program features jazz music by local and Chicago area musicians, interviews with local jazz figures, as well as news and events.

Denk is an active musician and patron of Jazz. He also is the President of Jazz on the Square in a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Woodstock, Illinois, where their mission is to provide the best live jazz performance and education in northern Illinois. Denk hosts the bi-monthly Jazz Jam's at Stage Left Café. Even with his thorough involvement in the world of Jazz, Denk still finds time to work at Abbott Laboratories during the day.
