Green Lake Zurich Fall Fest is Sunday

Come out to downtown Lake Zurich on Sunday for the Green Lake Zurich Fall Fest. The festival will include rain barrel painting lessons, art displays, face painting, music and food. There will also be pumpkins for sale. 

The event will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Sept. 3, at Celebration Park, at the corner of Main Street and Old Rand Road. 

"It's an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the fall season and the bounty that comes with it," said village Trustee Dana Rzeznik.

The event is being put on by the village Task Force for Green Initiatives. The group, made up only of volunteers, has a charter to explore eco-friendly steps all Lake Zurich residents can take to help the environment.

The task force sold rain barrels in the spring to encourage water conservation. Rzeznik said the 100 rain barrels went quickly. 

The task force had planned a rain barrel decoration contest, however, there were not entries. So, instead, the task force will offer a demonstration in how to decorate rain barrels. 

The task force is also woking on a project to promote recycling in the village. Rzeznik said the village may be able to offer rain barrels again if there is enough interest.
