Vintage Halloween How-To

Sunday, Oct. 21, 2-4 p.m., Lake County Discover Museum, Rte. 176 and Fairfield Rd., Wauconda

Learn the history of Halloween and recreate vintage-style Halloween party favors and decorations popular from the 1920s through the 1950s, at A Vintage Halloween How-To on Sunday, October 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. Leave with several hand-made party favors and decorations gleaned from magazines, party books and how-to pamphlets of the period. This hands-on workshop is designed for ages 13 and older with an adult. Cost is $9 ($11 for nonresident), and includes museum admission. Register by phone at 847-968-3321 or online. 

House of Mayhem 

Through Oct. 27, 7-11 p.m., St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hawthorn Woods

House of MAYHEM (formerly Haunted House) at St. Matthew in Hawthorn Woods, IL.  The House changes completely every year.  Tickets are $12. Kiddie House available from 1-4 PM on October 20, 21, and 27.

Friends of the Barrington Area Library Book Sale

 Oct. 20-21, Barrington Area Library 

Check out this book sale for great deals on books for all ages. The event takes place Oct. 20-21 in the Meeting Room and the Zimmerman Room of the Barrington Area Library. Saturday’s times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday’s sale runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Barrington Area Library.

We've been working with the police to make sure people know where they can park if the Pualus lot is full, and we're getting some signs to direct people to the alternate parking. Please come back and give us a try!

They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad.
