House of MAYHEM (formerly Haunted House) at St. Matthew in Hawthorn Woods, IL.  The House changes completely every year.  Tickets are $12. Kiddie House available from 1-4 PM on October 13, 14, 20, 21, and 27.

Saturday, Sunday, Oct. 13 and 14, Long Grove

Long Grove invites everyone to celebrate the historic village’s German roots at OktoberFest on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14. Start your day at 10:00 am Saturday with an old fashioned parade through the center of town. Enjoy live entertainment, including folk dancing and a variety of German bands. Experience the old-fashioned fun of a family hayride, pumpkin decorating and children’s activities. Stay for beer, brats, and traditional German food.

Admission and parking are free. Many of Long Grove’s unique shops and restaurants will add to the celebration with autumn and Halloween-themed items, sales, live music, special foods and drinks.

Barrington Scarecrow Festival

Oct. 13 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Memorial Park (Hough and Lincoln Streets)

The 12th annual Scarecrow Festival is back this weekend. The free event features pony rides, scarecrow, pumpkin and cookie decorating, games and music. There will be food for purchase. 

Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk

Oct. 14, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Lutheran Church of the Atonement

The 30th Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk kicks off at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main Street on Sunday. The walk helps raise funds to fight hunger locally and around the world. Paws for a Cause Community Dog Walk to benefit Gavers Breast Center 

Sunday, Oct. 14, noon, Horse Fair Park, Spring Grove

Members of the Richmond/Spring Grove Chamber Women's Networking Group are hosting a Community Dog Walk at Horse Fair Park to benefit Centegra Gavers Breast Center in Crystal Lake, IL and their Breast Care Fund. There will be games, raffles, demonstrations, entertainment, local vendors and LOTS of fun! The Pink Heels truck is schedule to appear too!
