Cooking for Valentine’s Day

Just in time for Valentine’s Day -- chef Carol Mackey will demonstrate several delectable recipes to make for the holiday on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 1:30-3 p.m., at the Ela Area Public Library. Recipes and a tasting are included.

Circus Boy Headlines Ela Library’s Love Your Library Celebration

He’s a juggler. He’s a magician. And he rides the world’s smallest bicycle. Bobby “Circus Boy” Hunt has been entertaining audiences around the world and promises an afternoon of non-stop fun during Ela Area Public Library’s annual Love Your Library Celebration. From juggling and balancing just about anything to fire-eating, this show promises to be a performance you won’t want to miss. Share the love and join us on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 2-4 p.m. (*Circus Boy’s performance – 2:30-3:15 p.m.) at the Library. Festivities include: free Culver’s sundaes throughout the celebration (while supplies last), professional face-painting, crafts, Starbucks coffee and meet popular children’s book characters Llama, Llama and Splat the CatAll ages are invited to attend. No registration is required.

History of Valentine’s Day

Who was St. Valentine? Who sent the oldest Valentine that is still in existence and what did it say? Discover the answers to these and other questions during this fun and informative presentation from museum curator and dramatist Ellie Carlson on Monday, Feb. 11, from 7-8 p.m. at Ela Area Public Library for ages 12 and up. See Ms. Carlson’s collection of hand-made Valentines and her research in the history of this holiday. Plus, make a hand-made Valentine to take home. Supplies are included.  Already made your Valentines?  Then bring a few supplies to share.

 For the Love of Desserts

Join local chef Michael Maddox for an engaging pastry-making class, and learn to create tasty treats for someone special (or for yourself!) at Ela Area Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. This workshop is designed for students in grades 6 to 12. 

The program is free, but registration is required.  Please register at the Library's Information Desk or online atwww.eapl.org
