Stock Up On Supplies For Ela Library's Mitten Tree

The library is collecting outdoor gear for those in need from Dec. 1 to Jan. 4

Though it’s been unseasonably warm, we all know the cold is coming.

While many of us are prepared, there are many others who just don’t have the money to buy all of the cold weather gear they need.

To help them out, the Ela Area Public Library is hosting a mitten drive.

But it’s not only mittens that you can donate to help out those in need.

The library is accepting new and like new mittens, gloves, scarves and hats for its annual Mitten Tree.

So if you see a deal on mittens on Black Friday, you might want to stock up to help out.

The library will begin taking donations on Sunday, Dec. 1.

They can be placed on the Mitten Tree in the library’s lobby until Jan. 4.

Last year, more than 450 items were distributed to the residents at Mount St. Joseph in Lake Zurich and the Lake County Haven in Libertyville.
