Lake Zurich Tree Lighting Tonight

Free community event begins at 4 p.m.

Get into the holiday spirit tonight at Lake Zurich’s annual tree lighting ceremony.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the holiday tree lighting ceremony, which begins at 4 p.m. at Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road.

The event is free, and features a visit by the big bearded guy himself.

It will be perfect for families and friends ready to get into the holiday spirit.

To help get everyone in a festive mood, the community can join in singing holiday carols.

There also will be free refreshments.

The highlight for many though, is getting a glimpse of the man from the North Pole.

Kids will have a chance to see the guy in his red suit, and maybe even give them their wish list this year.

Lake Zurich Village President Suzanne Branding said she looks forward to the event every year. And she invites the community to come out and help celebrate with one another at the fun, free event.

“It’s just such a nice little community thing,” Branding said.

“The thing I look forward to the most of all is these little kids. They’re so excited, they can hardly stand it,” she said.

Wow, this story really shows how selfish some people are now. The person who complained to theRead More police better hope he/she never needs any help or compassion from anyone or any organization. They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad. Way to go for your efforts though! Bob
