Groble began scouting in first grade as a Tiger Cub in Pack 92 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods. He went on to advance through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and Webelos, finally earning the Arrow of Light Award and "Super Achiever" status in 2007. Along the way he also earned two religious awards recognized by Boy Scouts of America: "God and Me" and "God and Family".

He bridged into Boy Scout Troop 964 in March of 2007 and progressed through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life. At lower ranks scouts learn the skills needed for scouting and camping, and the upper ranks focus on leadership development and service. So far he has earned 23 merit badges and spent 94 nights camping. He has served in leadership roles as Den Chief, Troop Guide and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, as well as serving as a staff member at various youth-led training courses. He has participated in numerous service projects benefitting local parks, churches, the American Legion Hall and the general community. In 2010 he was elected into the Order of the Arrow (scouting's honor society) by his peers and participated in the 100th Anniversary of BSA at the National Jamboree.

For his leadership service project, known as an Eagle project, Groble led 38 volunteers in a grounds beautification project for his church, Church of the Holy Apostles in Wauconda.  He designed and supervised the building of a display structure for the church bell, refinishing of the bell, refurbishing and installation of benches in the church's memorial garden, as well as abatement of a hazardous debris pile on the church grounds. To complete the project Groble procured financing from church members, his boy scout troop, and the Lake Zurich Home Depot and Costco stores and coordinated over 240 hours of volunteer labor.

Groble attended before transferring to IMSA in Aurora. In addition to scouting, he has been active in his school orchestra and other orchestral groups and participated on the Scholastic Bowl team and chess club. He is the son of Michael Groble and Lisa Earley of Lake Zurich, and his brother Brennan is currently a First Class scout in Troop 964.
