Lake Zurich Girl Raises Funds for West TX Orphaned Animals

Miss Northern Suburbs 2013 Beth Kamman invites residents to "Phantom Fundraiser."

Eight-year-old Beth Kamman of Lake Zurich is holding a "Phantom Fundraiser"--no one is required to attend, just send money--for the misplaced pets from the West TX fertilizer plant disaster.

"Beth, volunteers on animal issues as part of her community service experiences.  She was really moved by the explosion in West, particularly because I used to live very close by in Waco," writes Beth's mother Susan E. Kamman.

"She is raising money for the Humane Society of Central Texas.  There are animals standing in the streets in shock, their homes destroyed and their humans missing.  The Humane Society is providing shelter at its premises, and coordinating with other volunteers to foster animals until they can be reunited with their owners.  There are a number of places that are helping to track lost animals.  West TX Fertilizer Plant Disaster Lost & Found Pets is one, and http://centexlostpets.org/ has a website dedicated to lost pets."
