Jake the Beagle Hopes the New Year Brings Him a New Home

He likes to sleep late and have his head rubbed.

Hello, Everybody! I'm Jake, a handsome and somewhat petite eight-year-old Beagle boy.

I'm a very laidback kind of guy, especially for a Beagle. Some of my friends at Young At Heart Pet Rescue even go so far as to call me "mellow." I'm friendly but not pushy. I rarely ask for attention directly, but I'm always happy and grateful when it's offered.

Unlike a lot of pups, I'm no early riser. Heck, I'd sleep all day if you let me. If you enjoy lazy, leisurely mornings, I really am the guy for you.

While I do enjoy my sleepy time, I also like playing with toys, and I love treats. I'm good on walks, although I get so excited about all the smells that I can't help but zigzag and make some stops along the way. (I'm a hound after all, and we hounds follow our noses.) I also think car rides are pretty darn cool.

I'm trustworthy in the house, which is good news because I'm not very fond of being crated. I get along great with other canines, and the rescue is pretty sure I wouldn't get too riled up over a cat. I'm also good with kids – even little ones!

I love being pet and getting belly rubs, but there's nothing I enjoy more than having my houndy little head rubbed. That's the stuff my Beagle dreams are made of!

I recently had surgery to replace my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which I tore while acting like a goofball on the stairs – d'oh! Now I'm all healed and more than ready for my new home.

I'm an awesome companion and really would be a wonderful family dog. Could my happily ever after be with you? Fill out an adoption application to meet me and find out!
