Home On Forest Avenue To Be Featured On Historical Tour

Have you purchased your tickets for the Ela Historical Society's tour yet?

As the Ela Historical Society gears up for its first "From Then Till Now" historical tour of local buildings and homes, Lake Zurich Patch is featuring some of the locations that will be included on the tour.

This week, we're taking a brief look at a house that was originally built as a one-level home in 1865 by Otto Frank. The property on Forest Avenue was then owned by the Albert Prehm family, who were active in Lake Zurich and owned the first hardware store. The Deschauers then owned the property. Irving Deschauer was village attorney and a member of the Lions Club. His brothers owned a corner confectionery.

Want to know more about this home's history? You can learn more by attending one of the historical tours slated for Aug. 20. The bus/walking tours will be held at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. and at 1 and 2 p.m. Each tour will last about two hours.

Tickets cost $12 in advance or $15 the day of the tours. The tours will depart from the Ela Historical Society, 95 E. Main St. Refreshments and free drawings will be offered after the tours.

For more information, call the historical society at (847) 438-2086.
