Happy-Go-Lucky Fern Will Make You Smile
Sweet 8-year-old Labrador seeks home full of love and laughter.
Are you looking for a dog to light up your life? Look no further! I’m Fern, a beautiful purebred yellow Labrador retriever who enjoys making people smile.
The great thing about adopting an older gal like me is that I’ve learned a lot of new tricks along the way, and I love to show them off for you! Aside from the useful “sit,” “down,” and “shake,” I’m also a pro when it comes to greeting your guests. I will deliver them one of my favorite toys to show them just how much I appreciate them visiting me. I am also very good at the head-in-lap trick to get people to pet me. What can I say? I’m a people pleaser!
I am also an avid lounger around the house. I am very happy to just hang out with my foster parents, stretched out on a fluffy dog bed. Movie nights are my favorite because not only are we all hanging out together, but sometimes I also get a nibble of popcorn for a treat. I’m a good traveler, too. I like watching the world go by as I look out the car window, and I’ve even spent the night in a fancy hotel that allowed dogs!
Kids are pretty awesome, and you might agree. Those little gentle hands are right at my level, so I can sneak in a few more petting sessions if I get close enough. I do like snacks, so I have to admit that if you have a really little one, I may just help myself to whatever is in his or her hand. I don’t mind if you don’t! I’m also pretty laid-back when it comes to cats, as they don’t bother me a bit. And I’m good with older, bigger dogs that are mellow like me.
There’s not much about life that I don’t like. I do have one silly request though. I really prefer to eat out of plastic food bowls. Metal bowls remind me of that scary pound I was at before being rescued by Young at Heart Pet Rescue, and I don’t like the noise they make at all! But other noises I’m totally fine with, even the super loud thunder we’ve had with these spring storms lately.
I’m a quiet girl and very trustworthy in the house – no chewing, accidents or nonstop barking from me! I’m healthy, too, only needing a daily arthritis medication to keep the spring in my step.
I’d be an excellent family pet, and since I love making friends, you really should come and meet me. Just fill out an adoption application to arrange a visit. I’m healthy and already spayed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and microchipped. I’m ready to bring a smile to your face!
