Handsome Howie Wants a Lifetime of Lap Time
He's a ladies' man first, but he likes gents too.
Hi, everyone! I’m Howie, a dapper 10-year-old Pomeranian gentleman who wants nothing more than to be someone’s constant companion.
When my elderly mom couldn’t take care of me anymore, I ended up at the pound. I was so scared while I was there, and I almost didn’t make it out. But lucky for me Young At Heart Pet Rescue came along and saved me.
I’m super friendly with everyone, but I seem to have a way with the ladies. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve got nothing against men. In fact, I like them just fine, but when a soft lady voice talks to me and soft lady arms cuddle me, I just melt. I was everything to my mom, and she was everything to me, so a new home with an older woman or couple would be perfect for me.

I think kids are okay, but I’m so tiny that I’m not entirely comfortable being snuggled by them. When little ones try to hold me, I squirm until I can get away to a place where I feel more secure. I’m also a bit worried about being stepped on, so a quieter home is probably best for me.
I really like short walks, but other than that, I don’t require a lot of exercise. Mostly I just like to be with you. Other dogs and cats don’t bother me at all, so I can slide right in and become a part of the family before you know it.

One thing about us small dogs is that we also have small bladders. I’m 90 percent housetrained, and I use piddle pads without fail the other 10 percent of the time – no accidents ever on bare floors, dog beds, or carpets. As long as I have a piddle pad, I do just fine on my own while my foster parents are at work all day. Still, I’d really love to have a retired or work-from-home person to keep me company more often than not.
I’m a very good eater, but I need to be fed soft foods. See, when I came into rescue, I had to have most of my teeth pulled because they were in such bad shape. I’m nearly toothless now, but I think that gives me character. I feel so much better now that my mouth is healthy, and what dog would complain about having to eat delicious smooshy foods all the time?
The rescue has done a great job getting me in shape for my new family. In addition to my recent dental, I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vet-recommended vaccinations. All I need now is a home of my own.
I’m staying with a terrific , so you’ll have to fill out an application to meet me. Trust me: I’m worth paperwork.
Love,
Howie
