Handsome Feline Couch Potato Seeks Place to Nap, Lap to Snuggle

'Grumpy Old Malcolm' is a softie at heart.

Hey, folks! I’m Malcolm, the “Walter Matthau” of Young At Heart Pet Rescue.

I’ve been given this odd moniker because like my (nick)name-sake, I’m kind of a gruff older guy on the outside, but deep down, I’m a big creampuff.

I’m 10 years old, and, as you can see from my photos, I’m what the kids call a “couch potato.” I truly enjoy my quiet time. I’m perfectly happy hanging out on the sofa, the bed, the comfy chair or your lap. Every now and then, however, the urge to play strikes me, and I run with it.

Like a lot of older gentlemen, I do things at my own speed and my own whim. I enjoy good conversation and have lots of stories to tell. My rescue friends think I’d be the ideal companion for a retired person. I’d make a great TV buddy, and on commercial breaks, we could talk about the old days.

I do just fine with my kitty bunkmates at the Young At Heart Cat Adoption Center at the . I can get a little grumpy sometimes if another feline rubs me the wrong way, but I don’t hold a grudge. Plus, I’m front-declawed, so I really am just all talk.

In addition to being devastatingly handsome, I’m a pro when it comes to the litterbox.

If you’re looking for a goofy butterball who’s half “grumpy old man,” half snuggles and naps, I’m most definitely the guy for you. Like all Young At Heart cats, I’m neutered, microchipped and up to date on all my vet-recommended vaccinations. Based on the results of my blood work, I’ve got a long, healthy future filled with glorious naps and senior kitty stretches.

Could you be the Jack Lemmon to my Walter Matthau? Come on out to the Lake Zurich Petco to meet me. My adoption fee is just $55 for me or a pair of Young At Heart cats (adoption application required).
