Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association Holding Regional Games In Lake Zurich
Athletes with a physical or visual disability will compete in archery, boccia, handcycling, swimming, track and field, weightlifting, and table tennis.
The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association will be holding its third annual Great Lakes Regional Games today through Sunday at Lake Zurich High School and Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich.
The games are sanctioned by the Wheelchair and Ambulatory Sports, USA, and sponsored by Aetna.
The games are for youth and adult athletes, ages 6 and older, who have a visual or physical disability. More than 200 athletes are expected to attend from all over the Midwest.

Athletes will compete in track and field, swimming, boccia, archery, weightlifting, handcycling, and table tennis. Levels from novice through elite, including injured military veterans, are offered.
This a qualifying event for the National Junior Disability Championships, to be held July 17-23, 2011 in Saginaw, MI.

The weekends schedule for the games is as follows:
Friday
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Boccia Officials Clinic -LZHS
3 – 7 p.m. – Archery Competition – LZHS
3- 8 p.m. – Swim Classification – Foglia YMCA
4 – 9 p.m. – Weightlifting Competition – LZHS
4 – 9 p.m. – Check-in/Packet Pick up – LZHS
Saturday
8 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Swim Classification – Foglia YMCA
8 a.m. – Boccia Warmups
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Boccia Competition – LZHS
9 a.m. – noon – Table Tennis Competition – LZHS
noon – 4 p.m. – Swim Officials Clinic – Foglia YMCA
1 – 5 p.m. – Field Competition – LZHS
4 p.m. – Swimming Warmups – Foglia YMCA
5 – 8 p.m. – Swimming Competition – Foglia YMCA
Sunday
7 a.m. – Track Warmups – LZHS
8 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Track Competition – LZHS
Immediately Following Track Competition – Handcycling - LZHS
