Fall Festival

Saturday, Oct. 27, 12-4  p.m., Deer Park Town Center

 Enjoy trick or treating, while supplies last. Look for pumpkin decals on doors or windows. And grab a complimentary bag to collect your goodies at Brilliant Sky Toys & Books. Other activities include: Dog costume contest judged by Save-a-Pet, Monster Mash with Center for Ballroom & Dance, plus a stilt walker, balloon artist and free face painting.

Beastly Bash Kids Halloween Dance - Center for Ballroom and Dance

Saturday, Oct. 27, 4 p.m., Center for Ballroom and Dance, 21540 W Field Pkwy Ste 620, Deer Park

Want to start Halloween a little early? Here's your chance! Come party with Center for Ballroom and Dance. We're throwing a Costume Dance just for kids. Anyone ages 5-18 is welcome! Admission is $5.

House of Mayhem 

Through Oct. 27, 7-11 p.m., St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hawthorn Woods

House of MAYHEM (formerly Haunted House) at St. Matthew in Hawthorn Woods, IL.  The House changes completely every year.  Tickets are $12. Kiddie House available from 1-4 PM on October 27.


Halloween Hikes  

Friday, Oct. 26, Saturday, Oct. 27, Ryerson Woods

Take a one-hour guided group hike along a candlelit path to watch several nature-themed, costumed performances. Finish off at a cozy log cabin fireplace with cider and a fresh doughnut. The skits are not scary, so even your littlest will enjoy this family favorite. Hikes begin every 30 minutes from 6 to 8 p.m., and are designed for families with children ages 12 and under. Cost is $7 per person ($9 per person for nonresident). Trick-or-Treating at the Ice House Mall

Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 200 Applebee Street 

Bring your kids in costume to the Ice House Mall to trick-or-treat at local retailers. All stores will have goodies to pass out to the kids.


Trick or Treat Trot

Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8 a.m., Citizens Park Lodge, 511 Lake Zurich Road. 

Head to Citizens Park for the 6th annual Barrington Breakfast Rotary Trick or Treat Trot. There are 3 events to choose from: The Spooky 5k Trail Run/ Fitness Walk, the 1 mile Trail Course and the 100 yard dash for children 2 to 9 years old. Medals will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Costumes are highly encouraged. Register for the race at www.rotarytrickortreat.org 


St. Michael's Church Pumpkin Patch, all weekend, 647 Dundee Road 


If you haven't found a pumpkin for Halloween, head over to St. Michael's Church to pick out a great one. It's the last weekend to take advantage of this local pumpkin patch with charitable roots. All proceeds go to fund the church's summer youth mission trips.
