First 'One Book' Discussion To Be Held June 22

The Ela Area Public Library will hold its first discussion about Garth Stein's "The Art of Racing in the Rain" in just a week and a half. Are you ready?

If you want to participate in the first book discussion for the Ela Area Public Library's annual "One Book" community reading program, you've only got about a week and a half to finish the book.

The library will host its first book discussion about "The Art of Racing in the Rain" on June 22. The discussion will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Shady Oaks Bed & Breakfast.

The library kicked off its fifth annual "One Book" program in May. Garth Stein's "The Art of Racing in the Rain" features a story told from the perspective of a dog who is at the end of his life. Erica Christianson, manager of the library's popular materials department, said ultimately, the book is about family and love.

Another book discussion is slated for 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 14 at the Ela Library. Readers will also get to participate in a Skype discussion with Stein from 7 to 8 p.m. July 26 at the library. Readers can register for this discussion on the library's website.

Editor's note: I'm reading the book and plan to attend the June 22 book discussion. Hope to see you there!
