Fall Fun Fest This Saturday At Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center

Residents and nonresidents are invited to the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center on Sept. 10 for the annual Fall Family Fun Fest.

Now in its third year, the Fall Family Fun Fest at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center, 94 Midlothian Road, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.

The free event will feature kids’ crafts and games, tours of big rigs and service trucks, and a hovercraft for attendees to marvel at.

The event will also feature a flag-lowering ceremony at 10:15 in remembrance of 9/11, said Pamela Newton, chief operating officer for the village of Hawthorn Woods.

"Our Fall Family Fun Fest has quickly become a favorite tradition here in Hawthorn Woods," said Newton. "This free event will feature our fleet of big rigs for our touch-a-truck, event which is really popular with the children."

"The Fall Fest was planned as a fun community gathering two years ago as a way to bring neighborhoods together to enjoy visiting with one another, enjoying lunch, meeting their local officials, and visiting departments and village staff on-site," said Newton.

Refreshments will be served and there will be an open swim if weather permits. 

A raffle will be held for a free aquatic center family pass for 2012.
