Ela Historical Society to Hold Cemetery Talk

Event will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Historical Society will host a cemetery talk at 2 p.m. Oct. 16, said Director Coral Lee Scranton. An expert on the and Fairfield Cemeteries will talk about the history of the cemeteries, who is buried there, the types of headstones used, how the headstones are repaired and other details.

All are welcome to attend.

In November, the Historical Society and Museum will feature a presentation about the Civil War. Bill Kiddle, a retired Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 teacher, will talk about Ela Township's response to Fort Sumter. The event is slated for 2 p.m. Nov. 20.

The Ela Historical Society and Museum is open every Thursday and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Historical Society is also open the third Sunday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m.
