Ela Area Library Executive Director Resigns

A special board meeting on May 31 will be held to begin the search for a replacement for Mary Beth Campe.

Mary Beth Campe officially resigned as executive director of the Ela Area Public Library at the library board meeting on May 17.

“I’ve enjoyed my five years here and I have no worries that everything here will be just as wonderful as it always will be,” said Campe.

She will be taking the position of executive director at Elmhurst Pubic Library beginning July 29.

“Elmhurst is a great library just like this one and it’s larger than Ela. It’s the next step for me,” explained Campe.

“We are going to miss your value and all of your contributions,” said Tim Whiting, library trustee.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done,” said Vicki Burger, trustee.

Campe asked the board if she could stay on until July 15.

The board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. May 31 to discuss the search for a new executive director.

“We need to start the search as soon as possible because it’s a very tedious and arduous process,” said Chris Stachowiak, board vice president.

Campe offered her assistance in helping with her replacement.

“I’d be happy to give you input and offer you as much assistance as you want,” said Campe.

“In the two years I’ve been involved with the board, you’ve been helpful guiding me through being a new board member,” said John Shaw, board president. “Thank you.”
