'Bringing Back the Past' Answer Revealed

Did you guess the answer correctly?

The question posed yesterday was this: Can you name the famous actress who starred in more than 100 different plays at the Lake Zurich Playhouse after World War II? If you guessed Geraldine Page, then you guessed correctly!

Born in Missouri, Page attended the Goodman Theater School in Chicago after graduating from high school in 1942. After completing the three-year program in 1945, she and some friends organized a summer theater in Lake Zurich. She unsuccessfully tried to find work as an actress in New York City but eventually returned to Chicago, where she served as a part-time instructor in DePaul University's theater department.

For the next couple of years, she spent summers acting at the Lake Zurich Playhouse.

Page appeared in 28 films. She was nominated for the "Best Supporting Actress" Academy Award for her role in Hondo opposite John Wayne. In all, she received eight Academy Award nominations, according to Wikipedia. Page also appeared in 16 Broadway plays.

Page wasn't the only famous actor to have performed at the Lake Zurich Playhouse. Harvey Korman, who appeared in sketches on The Carol Burnett Show, also acted at the Playhouse.
