DESCRIPTION:Lake County Family YMCA will be hosting its centennial birthd
 ay party where it all began &ndash\; in Waukegan. The celebration takes 
 place on Wednesday\, July 18\, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Northern Lake YMC
 A\, 2000 Western Ave.\nThe roots of Lake County Family YMCA\, which also
  operates the Central Lake Y in Vernon Hills\, can be traced to the Wauk
 egan YMCA chartered in 1912. At that time\, the Y was housed in a buildi
 ng where the Genesee Theatre now stands. It moved to its second downtown
  Waukegan location &ndash\; the northwest corner of County and Clayton s
 treets &ndash\; in 1925 and then to its current facility in 1987. The Ce
 ntral Lake YMCA opened in 2001.\nTo mark 100 years of services to its co
 mmunities\, Lake County Family YMCA has planned an afternoon of fun\, no
 stalgia and refreshments on July 18. The public is invited to join YMCA 
 members in activities including family games such as an obstacle course\
 , tug-of-war and water-balloon fights. The Rope Warrior\, who performs j
 ump rope stunts that most of us can't even imagine\, will make an appear
 ance. Mascots from Northwestern University and Rain Forest Caf&eacute\; 
 also will be on hand for the celebration.\nLake County Family YMCA is a 
 cause-driven nonprofit committed to strengthening our local communities 
 through programs and services that foster youth development\, healthy li
 ving and social responsibility. The Y is a powerful association of men\,
  women and children from all walks of life joined together by a shared p
