DESCRIPTION:It began in the summer of 1942\, partly in celebration of the
  victories of World War II\, volunteer and service organizations came to
 gether to establish what we know today as&nbsp\;Alpine Fest&trade\;. The
  Lions Club with it's newly established park in downtown Lake Zurich aff
 orded a prime location for this event.&nbsp\;Over the years\, as more an
 d more people became active in the Lions Club\, the carnival grew. Today
  the event is bigger and better than ever\, drawing more than 10\,000 pe
 ople to the park for the three days of carnival rides\, games\, food\, f
 amily events and entertainment. The final day of the festival includes t
 he&nbsp\;Alpine Fest&trade\; Parade&nbsp\;down Main Street is the larges
 t parade in Lake County. It is also the biggest single event of the year
  in Lake Zurich.&nbsp\;Conducting this festival on the third weekend in 
 July each year requires an enormous amount of planning\, a major financi
 al investment in food\, bands\, tents\, and carnival entertainment\, it 
 also requires the dedicated time of Lake Zurich Lions Club members and h
 undreds of other volunteers from the community.
