Classmates will gather in Lake Zurich from across the country to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation from Ela-Vernon (LZ) High School. Events are planned from Friday 9/7 through Sunday 9/9. Some class members are descended from early Lake Zurich and Ela Twp. families, some remained in Lake Zurich in community leadership roles, establishing businesses, supporting community projects and sending their chlidren to Lake Zurich schools. Some class members resided in neighboring Vernon Twp where they too had deep community roots and roles. Some left the area to establish families and careers and live lives marked with leadership and service. The entire 44 member class has been accounted for except Bob Patterson, Bob Helzer and John Kellerman, who are still being sought. Guests are most welcome to join the graduates at any of the events. More About Lake Zurich High School
Step onto the grounds of Lake Zurich High School and you're clearly in Bear Country. From the spray-painted paw prints on the pavement, to the hand-painted mural in the entryway and even the words on the water tower behind it, school spirit is evident everywhere. The many trophies earned over the years are displayed in a case in one of the hallways. Another hallway features the student hall of fame that occupies and entire wall. Yet another wall contains murals the signatures of graduating class members from their respective year of graduation.
