1. WINGS Taste Takes Flight Culinary Extravaganza

Where / When: The Meadows Club, 2950 Golf Rd., Rolling Meadows; 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Friday, April 29.

Why Go? Women in Need Growing Stronger hosts this fundraiser to help victims of domestic violence. Sample international cuisine prepared by top chefs. There will be a boutique with specialty items, wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, auction and raffle.

Pricing: $50 or $100 for VIP tickets

 

2. American Legion Friday Night Dinner

Where / When: American Legion Hall, 122 W. Palatine Rd., Palatine; 5 - 8 p.m.; Friday, April 29.

Why Go?: Steak Fry and Frank Sinatra Tribute Concert sponsored by SAL Squadron 690 and Auxiliary Unit 690. Funds raised will go to Legion Family Charities. Full bar available.

Pricing: $17 includes 12 ounce steak, grilled onions, baked potato, salad, rolls, buttered corn and dessert.

 

3. Earth / Arbor Day Celebration

Where / When: Henry J. Paulus Park; 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go?: Help clean up any of the 32 Lake Zurich parks and then meet at Paulus Park for a tree planting and a tree pruning demonstration. See the rain garden and learn how to make your own. Free barbeque at noon for all clean-up participants.

4. Knights of Columbus Japanese Earthquake Relief Fundraiser - Beatles Tribute Concert


Where / WhenKnights of Columbus; 6 - 11:45 p.m.; Saturday, April 30.

Why Go?: Live music by The Cavern Beat, the internationally-acclaimed Beatles tribute band. Cash bar and food, dancing, raffles and more. Proceeds will be donated to the Knights of Columbus Charities' Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.

Pricing: $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 10 - 17; free for children under 10

 

5. A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer

Where / When: College of Lake County, Grayslake Campus, C Wing Auditorium, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake; 7 p.m., Friday, April 29.

Why Go?: CLC students, faculty and staff present this Eve Ensler show that features a collection of new, personal essays by celebrities, literati and feminist luminaries. The student cast is directed by CLC alumna and a current student.

Pricing: $7 suggested donation; $5 for students

 

6. Wheeling Jaycees and Bob Chinn's Crab House Crabfest

Where/When: Bob Chinn's Crab House, 393 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling; Friday, April 29.

Why Go: Annual Crabfest at Bob Chinn's, proceeds help the Jaycees fund community events. Price includes choice of snow crab legs or crab legs and prime rib, parsley potatoes, cole slaw and garlic rolls. Tickets are not sold at the restaurant. visit www.wheelingjaycees.org for information.

7. Festival Chorus: Americana, A Spring Concert

Where / When: Harper College, Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 3 p.m., Sunday, May 1.

Why Go?: The Festival Chorus will perform with a professional orchestra and soloists.

Pricing: $10 for Harper students, faculty, staff and seniors; $12 for other students; $15 for general admission; free for children 12 and under
