Four local athletes begin their quest for Olympic gold when the 2012 London Olympic Games start at 1:30 p.m. today (London Time) with the opening ceremonies.

American swimmers Matt Grevers of Lake Forest and Conor Dwyer of Winnetka start racing Saturday while Deerfield High School graduate and Riverwoods native Christina Loukas will wait until August 3. Lake Forest High School graduate and Israeli team member, Jillian Schwartz, starts competing in the pole vault August 4.

Though only some of their performances will be on national television, every jump, dive and swim can be seen live by computer streaming through Comcast or other Internet providers.
