Schools, Churches, Library, Forest Preserves Cancel Activities, Close Due to Snow Storm
District 95, St. Francis de Sales and St. Matthews schools are closed on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Lake Zurich schools and churches as well as Lake County government offices and forest preserves have canceledi activities later today, tonight and tomorrow or have closed for the day. Following are the closings so far:
All Community Unit School District 95 schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Additionally, all after school activities and practices for Tuesday, Feb. 1, and Wednesday, Feb. 2, have been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, according to the school district.
The Ela Area Public Library is closed early today and will be closed on Wednesday.
Additionally, Alpine Chapel has cancelled all activities for today. St. Frances de Sales School is closed today and Wednesday, Feb. 2.
St. Matthew Lutheran School will not hold any evening classes or meetings tonight.
Lake County government offices and the 19th Judicial Circuit Court will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Essential services, including the Sheriff's Office, Division of Transportation, Winchester House, and other critical service areas, will continue to operate. Lake County will resume regular operating hours on Thursday, Feb. 3. Court Rescheduling Information
All courtrooms in the main courthouse in Waukegan, branch courts in Park City, Round Lake and Mundelein, and the juvenile court in Vernon Hills will be closed. If you have a court matter scheduled at one of the Traffic/Branch Courts, please call the Circuit Court Clerk located at each facility for a new court date:

On Wednesday, entrance gates and parking areas to all Lake County Forest Preserves, Dog Exercise Areas, and the winter sports areas will be closed. In addition, all Forest Preserve special facilities and offices, including the General Offices, Lake County Discovery Museum, Greenbelt Cultural Center, Independence Grove, and Ryerson Woods will be closed for regular business. Educational programs originally scheduled on Wednesday, Feb 2 have been canceled.
Lake County Forest Preserve crews are preparing in advance of the storm and will work during periods of heavy snowfall to clear preserve entrances and parking lots. Depending on actual weather conditions and if preserves can be made safe and accessible for public use, preserve entrance gates, special facilities and offices will be reopened on Thursday, February 3.
