As the search continues for the vehicle that struck and killed 18-year-old Gabriella "Gabby" Drozdz on July 22, Lake County CrimeStoppers announced it is now offering a $5,000 reward in hopes that someone will provide information leading to an arrest.
The hit-and-run occurred just before 9:15 p.m. July 22 as Drozdz and her friends, Rosie and Vanessa Fitts, all of Lake Zurich, were walking to Alpine Fest. The teens were walking along Church Street near Jamie Lane when they were struck. Drozdz died of her injuries shortly after being transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Rosie, 16, and Vanessa, 18, were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries not considered life-threatening. They later were released.
The vehicle of interest is described as a two-tone blue van with a lighter accent color, possibly silver or gray. The vehicle being sought is a GMC Safari or Chevrolet Astro van from model years 1985-94. The license plate is mounted on the rear hatch.
Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to call Lake County Crime Stoppers at 1-847-662-2222.
Lake Zurich police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said Gabby's family is working with Lake County CrimeStoppers to increase the reward amount.

It is a shame that we have to wave money in front of the faces of people who know the truth. Our society today is swayed by greed instead of morals. I do hope this person is found to give the community a sense of peace.
