Patch Flash: Bank Says Illinois Economy Better Than Wisconsin, Indiana

School Dist 67 to post independent report in principal sexting case.

Both Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker have tried luring businesses from Illinois to their states, saying a tax hike passed by Gov. Pat Quinn last year has made the Land of Lincoln unfriendly to businesses. But, as Rich Miller of the Capitol Fax blog pointed out Monday, things might not be so bad in Illinois after all. Miller pointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's latest six-month forecast of state economic conditions. The map shows that Illinois economy will grow in the next six months, decrease in Wisconsin and grow only slightly in Indiana.

Lake Forest School District 67 will post a report from an independent investigation of Deer Path Middle School principal John Steinert in the sexting case. Steinert was convicted for misdemeanor harassment by electronic communication for sexually explicit text messages, voice mails and a lewd photo from his school district-issued cell phone to a 22-year-old Lake Forest College student, who was an intern with the Lake Forest Police Department working at Deer Path.

McHenry County sheriff’s police discovered 700 grams of methamphetamine, valued at $25,000 in a vehicle in Algonquin. Officers were led to the vehicle by  McHenry County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. The K-9 Unit followed the vehicle into a shopping center parking lot, and two unidentified men quickly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Attempts to locate the men were unsuccessful.

The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident at Route 12 and Quentin Road, Monday, was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi said Route 12 between Quentin and West Cuba Roads was closed for about three and a half hours as police and fire personnel responded to — and then investigated — the four-vehicle accident.  The accident is still being investigated by the Kildeer Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.

A substitute teacher and basketball coach at an Orland Park high school has been accused of inappropriate contact on one occasion with a 17-year-old female student off school grounds, according to authorities. Steven E. Reynolds, 26, of the 600 block of 55thStreet in Hinsdale, was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

Illinois is in the worst financial position of any state in the nation. Look at the bond ratings...you want to talk about "..bank says Illinois economy better than Wisconsin/Indiana..?" Who do banks lend money to and how much do they charge for the loan? And growth? growth, in terms of statistics, are funny things. If you are in the tank, it's much easier to make any incremental growth, on top of crap, look good.

Similar to the unemployment numbers.. if 1,200,000 people suddenly 'drop out' of the work force in one month (as in January, 2012...no, you won't hear about that on ABC,NBC or CBS), then the unemployment number miraculously appears better because the number of people who are categorized as unemployed are figured, by percentage, against a much smaller base number of worker. See how that works? Same thing applies to 'growth'.
