Jason T. Slowinski soon will join the village of Lake Zurich as its new village administrator.
Mayor Suzanne Branding announced Slowinski's appointment via press release March 29. Slowinski, who was selected from 45 applicants, is the interim city manager in Des Plaines. He officially will join Lake Zurich on May 7.
"We are very pleased to have Mr. Slowinski as our new administrator," said Branding. "I anticipate the village will benefit from his prior experience and he will integrate very well into the Lake Zurich staff."
Former Village Administrator Bob Vitas submitted his resignation on Nov. 11, 2011. His last day was Dec. 31. Roy Witherow was appointed the interim village administrator in January.
Slowinski has worked for the city of Des Plaines since September 2008. He previously served as the assistant village administrator in River Forest for three years.
Slowinski has a Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School, along with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is enrolled in Northern Illinois University's Public Administration Graduate Program.
"Jason brings a significant amount of broad-based municipal experience," said Branding. "He has established a reputation as an innovator who has a track record of increasing operational efficiencies while reducing the cost of government. His skills and credentials fit extremely well with the current and future needs of the village of Lake Zurich. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Mr. Slowinski."
