I love Starbucks coffee.
On a typical Wednesday or Thursday (or both), you can find me at the Starbucks on Rand next to Sonic, sipping away and working. My drink of choice is usually a tall white chocolate mocha, although I've been known to switch it up and order a tall cinnamon dolce latte.
Lent starts tomorrow, and I've been contemplating whether to give up something for the 40-day period this year. Last year, I decided I would give up Starbucks. I'm sad to say, I fell off the wagon after a couple of weeks.
This year, though, I'm serious about giving up my beloved, tasty coffee drinks. I'm sure many of you fellow coffee enthusiasts would agree that this is going to be a challenge.
Now that I've shared this with all of you, I want all of you readers to hold me accountable. If you see me at Starbucks, please make sure I'm not drinking coffee.
I'm definitely not going to stop visiting "my Starbucks." Manager Marcos Lyles and his fabulous employees would no doubt start thinking that I'd abandoned them. But when you see me at Starbucks over the next 40 days, rest assured that I'll be drinking water — or even tea.
Are you giving up anything for Lent?

The Best of Luck to you sister!
Our small gestures of lenten sacrifice are the least we can do to pay tribute to the One who loves us all so very much that He gave his life for us.
Over the years I've abstained from various pleasures for lent, it was coffee for a few years because I, just like you love it THAT MUCH.
Of course, it was sweets for just as many years as well, cookies in paticular are my fatal weakness. Girl, I could not set foot in Starbucks during lent for both those temptations...I hope you have a support network in place there?! ;)
This year will be particularly challenging for me too. My husband's family is from Italy and he has taken up the tradition of wine making....if you have never tried homemade wine, you are missing out on not only superior taste, but the hangover that usually ensues when commercial wines containing sulfites are consumed. Homemade wine is divine! And you don't have to suffer afterwards!
Last years vintage was a Red Zinfandel with an added touch of sweet Moscato grapes...I don't even normally like Zinfandel but this wine bears no resemblance to the Pink nail polish remover like liquid that passes for wine at the store, it's luscious!
This won't be easy I tell you!...all I can say is, please pray for me and I will pray for you too! cher@artisticaisles.com
