LIVEBLOG: Follow Along with Local Readers for the Presidential Debate Town Hall

Tuesday's round two between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. Central Time. The town-hall style debate will be moderated by CNN’s Candy Crowley. Patch will liveblog the event for local readers.

The second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is set for 8 p.m. Oct. 16. The debate is at Hofstra University in New York and will be moderated by CNN's Candy Crowley.

In the first debate, the candidates focused on domestic issues, including the economy and taxes, health care reform and the role of government.

This second debate between the candidates is a town hall-style debate, including questions from the audience. It will focus on both domestic and international issues and will include questions from voters.

The tradition of holding live town hall debates for presidential candidates began in 1992 and has since proved to be one of the biggest challenges for debaters. Taking questions from the audience means an increased level of unpredictability, which in the past has led to candidates stumbling to answer questions, getting in each others' faces, and wandering around the stage.

To prep for Tuesday's show, relive some of the most painfully awkward debate moments, courtesy of the Huffington Post.

Television Broadcasting and Live Streaming

TV Channels Broadcasting Live: ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and more. Check the local listings on TV Guide.com.

AOL will provide a live stream of the debate. It will also air on YouTube's Election Hub.

All of the debates are presented by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).

'John' Candy Crowley, or Uncle Buck and a half, is the chosen liberal moderator for this townhall style debate. Crowley is a big Obama fan.. she flew her own daughter down to Springfield in '07 to see his announcement ceremony. She termed Romney's addition of Paul Ryan to the ticket as a "Deathwish Ticket".

She is our biased moderator for the evening. The format is where the pre-screened audience submits questions and Uncle Buck and a half gets to select which ones to ask. We can expect this line of questioning:

Crowley: Gov. Romney, you have written off half of the country with your 47% remarks.. is there anything you'd like to say to insult the other 53% right here?

Crowley: President Obama, you have the toughest job in the world, and still make time for your incredibly wonderful family. We all know about 'Bo', the family dog that you rescued from sure death. Can you tell me how hard it was for your girls to decide on his name?

Crowley: a followup for ex Gov Romney.. you strapped a dog to the roof of your car and now he's dead. Do you feel any remorse?

Crowley: President Obama.. Mr. President, David Brooks, the rightwing columnist of the New York Times famously said how you looked so great with this perfect crease in your pants. How do you look so fabulous when you have so little time for yourself?

Crowley: failed Gov. Romney, you have been talking about Libya as if you were an expert. How many square miles is the country of Libya?

@Sandra Sims; 'making excuses for Romney'.... Maybe it's because i know how people like Candy Crowley operate? Here we are in an important presidential debate and the two primaries are having a tense discussion about Libya and Candy Crowley jumps in to defend the President. The President uses her to 'one up' her opponent by asking "can you say that a little louder, Candy" (as if it wasn't heard the first time. we know it was)

Crowley obliges Obama by repeating herself to Romney.

Afterwards, Crowley admits she had the facts wrong. Romney was correct. Oops. She could. not. help. herself. from butting in. She is a knee jerk liberal. That's how her mind is wired.

Crowley reminds me of a replacement referee being asked to work the Super Bowl in which her son is involved and making a bad call against the team her son is playing.

The best referees are the ones you don't notice. We noticed Uncle Buck and a half on stage and will never forget how she tried to influence the result of the big game.

Mr Romney wouldn;t know the truth it if bit him on the nose. And your continued references to her as "Uncle Buck and a half" are truly offensive. I would hope that the Patch would not allow people like you to blog on their site.

Sandra - she did not read the ENTIRE transcript - only a line that supposedly supports the president's lie. If you read the ENTIRE transcript, including the paragraph before, you will see Obama was talking either about the 9/11 attack in NYC or about attacks IN GENERAL, he did not label the specific attack a terrorist attack. That "interpretation" of his comments is further proven based upon subsequent comments by the administration in the following weeks.

RationalTht- His very next sentence is "Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America." That certainly is talking about Libya and not 9/11 or attacks in general (attacks in general don't mention body counts).

ALL OF THOSE WOMEN ON THE VIEW ARE DEMOCRAT EXCEPT FOR ONE...ROMNEY IS SMART, HE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY POKER..IN POKER WHEN THE ODDS ARE STACK AGAINST YOU, MOST OF THE TIME , YOU DON'T PLAY.

DEBATES ??? MEAN NOTHING...MOST OF THE QUESTIONS THAT AMERICANS WANT ASK ? DON'T GET ASK..
LIKE, WHY DID OBAMA STOPPED BUILDING THE MEXICO BORDER FENCE ? WE HAVE MILES OF BORDER WITH NO FENCE, SHAMEFUL.
WHY DID OBAMA STOP ICE FROM DEPORTING THE ILLEGALS ?? ICE IS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO DEPORT ILLEGALS , IS THEIR JOBS TO DEPORT THEM..ICE IS IN COURT AS WE SPEAK FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST OBAMA ..

WITH 25 MILLION AMERICANS UNEMPLOYED, WHY IS OBAMA GIVING ANCHOR BABIES WORK PERMITS ??
OBAMA IS CLAIMING TO BE OPPOSED TO JOB OUTSOURCING TO CHINA, BUT NOT LONG AGO HE APPROVED 3 MORE FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS WHICH WILL PROVIDE MORE SLAVE WORKERS FOR CORPORATIONS TO OUTSOURCE THE JOBS TO..I WANT OBAMA TO EXPLAIN THAT ?
JOB OUTSOURCING IS AMERICA # 1 PROBLEM---ILLEGALS ARE AMERICA # 2 THREAT. LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS AMERICA # 3 THREAT.

The lies are all Obama-1. said he would cut the deficit-he doubled it. 2. Said he would get unemployment down to 5.4%-it's 7.8(was over 8% for most of his term. 3. Said he would create jobs if we approved his massive stimulus-he created some short term government jobs and wasted tax payer dollars to companies like Solyndra who went bankrupt. Gave bailouts to big banks but didn't specify how to use it, so they had extravagant conventions and gave themselves huge bonuses with the taxpayer money. Now his latest lie about Libya saying it was a protest that went out of control because of a video-turned out there wasn't even a protest in the area-we were shown a false video of protesters from somewhere else just to make it "look" like it was a protest and not the terrorist attack that it was. The state dept had real time video's showing empty streets before the TERROR ATTACK on the consulate and showed the terrorists climbing the walls to invade the consulate, yet it took 2 weeks to finally admit that it was a terriorist attack. Are you willing to vote for a President who lies to protect his bragging rights that the Taliban is defeated? They are stronger than ever because they know they have a weak leader that they can push around. God help us if he gets re-elected.

Oh ya, we have 16 million people out of work as well. So if we took half of them back to their homeland unemployment goes to 1 to 2 % and the 400 billion could end world hunger or atleast pay back the Social security Obama borrowed .... spoooky stuff. Crowley came out after the debate and admitted that she was wrong and that Romney was correct.

Doesn't change the optics of her interjecting herself into the debate in Obama's defense and even repeating herself (incorrectly. again) by obliging Obama when he asked her to "..can you say that a little louder?"

At that point, the damage was done. Crowley successfully helped Obama out of the Libya part of the debate.

She also interrupted Romney 28 times compared with the 9 times she interrupted Obama.

Crowley's daughter, whom she brought to Obama's announcement ceremony back in 2007, must be proud of her mother for helping out Obama so much.

I did some digging today and the cost for the illegals is really closer to 500 billion annually.... to feed , and shelter them. so yes Unemployment would be at 2%.
It was good to See Obama scrambling and babbling , we can still save America
if Obama is out of the picture .. 4 more years and we are done. Another 16 trillion
will take 3 generations, once Obama reduces our military as planned we will be to weak to defend our country..... Hard to believe he is doing this in front of God and everyone...

This assumes all of the unemployed are employable. It assumes that the employer believes that they will add value. You know what they say about assumptions.

Jason, i'm going to back off of Darren's comments here, but do you know that hundreds of people took to Twitter last night threatening to assassinate Romney, or asking somebody else to do it?

Do you know what the number one reason for them doing so?

They are afraid that Romney is going to cancel their food stamps and EBT cards. Seriously. They are THAT malinformed about the issues.

So, if Romney wins, you can expect to see riots in Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, etc.. You can expect to see some of these same people who threatened Romney on Twitter to burn their own neighborhoods, burn and loot small businesses and you will see mobs of people attacking random citizens of pale skin for no good reason at all.

Obama is not the answer for post partisan racial behavior in our country. MLK, he's not. To the contrary, Obama and Eric Holder have turned this into the MOST racial time in recent history.

Nancy J. Thorner

10:29 am on Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Although a slight edge was given to Obama last night on his debate ability, Romney, according to instant unscientific polling, won hands down on the economy and his ability to be a jobs creator. It was interesting that an independent group of voters in a Frank Luntz focus group on Sean Hannity's TV show last night switched to Romney by 2 -1 after the debate,

Obama had nothing new to offer, and how could it be any different, when Obama's policies during the past four years did not create jobs or bring a sense of financial well-being to the American people. The status quo is not acceptable to most Americans, and the status quo would reign if Obama were re-elected. It would be more of the same with trillion dollar deficits each and every year.

As far as job creation, unemployment stood at 7.8 when Obama took office, identical to the most recent jobs report, discounting the fact that less people are working now than when Obama took office. Millions who are no longer looking for a job are not counted in the monthly unemployment data.

It's also interesting that Candy Crowley gave Obama 3 minutes more to speak than she gave Romney, often cutting Romney off when he came to an important place in his dialogue.

Interesting also is that Crowley tried to help Obama on the Libya question about calling a terrorist act a terrorist act (instead of an unplanned attack spurred by a movie) that was still Obama's rhetoric 9 days later. Candy has egg on her face this morning.

It sure would be nice to have an unbiased moderator in the last debate. Jim Lehr did a good job because he asked the questions & then got out of the way & let the candidates answer & then called time. The moderator at the vice-presidential debate was horrible. She kept inserting herself into the debate as if this was a three-way debate & not just between two candidates. Crowley got to pick the questions asked last night & there were no hard ball questions that the President might have had just a little trouble responding to, & everytime Romney was making a point, she stepped on him & stopped him from completing his point. The worst was the Libya terrorist attack issue. She bailed Obama out of that mess & of course afterwards said she was wrong. That is just like accusing someone of a major crime on the front page of a newspaper & then burying the correction on page 8 at the bottom in very small print. By the way she owed Romney an apology which he will never receive. No more liberal hacks as moderators.
